Tertúlia Algarvia is the fulfillment of the dream of a group of friends, who in 2006 decided to implement a space to promote the cuisine, history and traditions of the region.
After many plans, accounts and, most importantly , a lot of persistence, Tertúlia Algarvia opens to the public in August 2013 in Vila-Adentro, the historical centre of Faro.
It is unknown when exactly will have begun the history of the house where Tertúlia Algarvia works. Some researchers point to the seventeenth and others for the second half of the eighteenth century.
The building we see today is the result of rehabilitation and adaptation works, that took place between 2010 and 2013. The cork, the tile of St. Catherine or the compartmentalized furniture that reminds of the old grocery stores are some of the characteristic elements of the interior of this house, composed by several versatile, comfortable and welcoming spaces. The blend of modern and traditional also gave rise to a number of decorative objects conceived by designers and created by craftspeople from the region.
The versatility of the spaces allows not only to serve meals with traditional and Mediterranean inspiration, but also to provide other activities such as cooking demonstrations and workshops, exhibitions and craft workshops.
Another way to know the work of regional producers is through a small shop, where is possible to find suggestive products to offer on different occasions.
