Cooking With Parsley

Parsley is available in many varieties.

Curly-leaf parsley is robust, but less aromatic than flat- leaf parsley. Curly-leaf parsley is ideal for garnishing salads and cold dishes.

Flat-leaf parsley is mainly used fresh, added to fish and vegetable dishes. It should be cooked for a short amount of time, because many vitamins are killed by heat treatment. That is why it is recommended to add the parsley just before the end of cooking.

Health Benefits of Parsley

Parsley has many health benefits. It is rich in antioxidants, improves digestion, and it is rich in calcium and magnesium, which help in keeping the nervous system functioning properly.

It can be added to salads, omelets, and sandwiches. It adds to the flavor, taste, and aroma. At the same time, it is cheap, tasty, and easy to use.

Growing Parsley

You can plant most herbs, such as celery (leafy), basil, oregano, marjoram, thyme, chives, etc., this same way.

If you want, you can plant parsley in pots in the window, or on the balcony.

The procedure is as follows: the best way is to buy some good flower soil, put the soil in jars, and sprinkle with parsley seeds. Cover the seeds with 1 cm (approx. 1/2 inch) of the soil. Water the parsley as needed, which means the soil should not be dry.

It is very important that the jar has a hole on the bottom so that excess water can drain away.
It is best if the jar is placed in the sun while the herbs are growing.
